Working On a Garish New Theme
I've got a new theme idea I'm working on based off of this Orangina Art Nouveau poster that I have hanging on my wall.
I might tone it down when my vision returns after staring at my screen for the last few hours trying to figure out the css declarations.

The first two tracks make it all worth it. If you're looking for a middle eastern post-punk ear worm, then This is my Life should satisfy you. If you're more in the mood for Tom Waits meets the Jungle Book soundtrack, then Borneo is your track.
Several years ago I remember telling someone that the Carpenters had a few great songs, if you could just get past the clunkers. Fast forward to a week ago when I heard Leon Russell covering a song by The Carpenters called "Song For You". It sounded great! Come to find out, he wasn't covering it, he wrote it. After further research, I figured out that Russell had written all of my favorite Carpenter's songs. I guess all along I really was digging him.

Wittgenstein's Poker: The Story of a Ten-Minute Argument Between Two Great Philosophers
In this corner there is the charismatic and brash Wittgenstein. In the other corner it's the up and coming totalitarian killer Popper. Bertrand Russell is officiating. It's an epic battle: the irresistable force meets the immovable object. Well, maybe its more like an epic argument. Mmm, maybe a ten-minute series of connected statements meant to arrive at a conclusion. Well, not an argument but perhaps a raising of voices and a snide comment. Wait, there' more! Wiitgenstein slams a door! Okay, I'm about 50 pages in and I'm starting to lose interest.

Blood Meridian: Or the Evening Redness in the West
All the Buddhism books I've been reading have got me hankering for something dark, ultra-violent, and existential. All the Meindert DeJong books were checked out, so this will have to do.
Just Finished
Hardcore Zen: Punk Rock, Monster Movies, & the Truth about Reality
Lots of references to human excrement and punk. A beautiful exposition of the Great Heart of Wisdom Sutra. I highly recommend it.
An Introduction to Zen Buddhism
Zen is something I've always wanted to learn more about. Halfway through reading this book, I may know less than I did before. Perhaps by time I am finished with the book I will know nothing about Zen. At which point I will highly recommend it.
Social Software in Libraries: Building Collaboration, Communication, and Community Online
This is basically my new work manual since I deal with blogs, rss feeds, wikis and such stuff at work. Meredith Farkas is dangerously close to replacing Amy Sedaris and Sarah Vowell as my latest nerd crush. If only this was available as an audiobook.
