Early Bird

Tomorrow I will start reporting to work at 7am. With the commute and the shave, shower, and shampoo, I'll have to set my alarm for like 5:30am at the latest. Yowsers!

I take it as another sign that I'm growing up (or growing old). Maybe maturing is a better term.

It seems like just just yesterday when I was working as a sound guy that I would get off of work at 3am. It wasn't unusual for me to roll out of bed at noon. During the winter, that meant I saw maybe 5 hours of sunlight. I took great delight in my vampire-esque hours.

Now, during the winter, I might roll into work just as the sun is peaking over the horizon. That's garbage-man hours.

But the plus is that I'll be missing all the traffic that I was hitting when trying to report to work for 8am. Although I love all the time I get to listen to my audiobooks on CD, (thanks to Augusten Burroughs) I still feel that all the time in traffic is chipping away hours off of my precious lifespan....slowly at 20mph.

And I'll be getting off of work at 4pm. There's practically a whole day left.

Funny thing... tomorrow I start reporting to work at 6:30 am! The commute's not bad for me (3.4 miles,) but I'll probably be getting up at 5 or 5:30 since there's only the one small bathroom.

And I'll be getting off work at 2:30! I mean, come on... a couple days these past few weeks I would wake up at 2:30.
