I Sold My House

My wife and I sold our house last month. The first people that looked at it decided that they wanted it. They never even gave us a chance to buy a "For Sale" sign. We were in the middle of painting it, and they came along and said "Stop!". If we painted it and redid the floors like we were going to do, then the house might be outside their price range. So we sold it to them "as is". And we could be lazy and not do anything to it.

During the closing, we watched them as they signed all the important papers. It's the same thing we did five years ago when we bought the house. But this time, we just had to sit and watch and then wait for the big check at the end.

We made some money in the deal. Housing prices in Baton Rouge are up since the hurricanes. And now we're living in a trailer in the country, on the in-law's property. But we got money in the bank.

It finally came true. After years of resistance, I must admit that I'm am now a member of the middle class.
