Waughblog in the Media Again
That's right, the mainstream print media has once again noticed me thanks to my blog. Perhaps it's my ability to find those stories that fall between the cracks, or perhaps it's my in-depth analysis. Whatever it is, be advised that Waughblog is about to hit the big time and you'll be able to say that you were a reader back when there were only a handful of Waughblog readers.
This time, 225 Magazine, which is a new entertainment magazine covering the Baton Rouge area, mentioned Waughblog in its third issue. The article is called Google This: Pat Shingleton. It is a well written and in-depth analysis of what happens when you Google Pat Shingleton. Sure enough, it mentions Waughblog and my description of a commercial that my friend Clark was in: House Painters Prefer Shingleton.
Actually, this whole thing is a wonderful example of blogs, media and informational feedback loops. And I'm not talking about what happens when mainstream reporters base stories on information they find on Google. Let's take it a step farther and see what happens when your whole article is about what you find on Google.
Unfortunately, the article does not appear in the online version of the magazine. But if you have a print copy, the article appears in a sidebar next to an article about someone named Mike Wang (which is another odd coincidence in itself).
I'm glad that I finally got in 225 Magazine, because I was getting jealous. It seems that each issue of the magazine so far has had several people that I know in it. Maybe because it covers the local music scene and I know half of the people in it, which probably amounts to about 50 people total.
Thanks to my friend Kevin for pointing this out to me. I might have missed it and thus I would have missed another opportunity to cover a story of somebody covering me.
