Favorite Internet Radio

I've got a stereo hooked up to my computer via a USB port and I'm loving it.

My favorite Internet radio is Pandora. You tell it what band or song you like and it will create a "station" that will play music that is similar to your request. It's totally free and even with the free version will let you create up to 100 stations.

I find it's better to build stations off of songs rather than bands.

My favorite stations are built off the following. Lately I've put these stations on when I exercise on my stationary bike.

For rock-steady exercise music: Desmond Dekker's Israelites

For industrial exercise music: Front 242's Headhunter

For funky exercise music: Tom Tom Club's Genius of Love

Also try out Citizen Cope as a band.

My brother already blogged about the wonders of Pandora. I'm not sure I can add anything more insightful but perhaps the suggestions I've just provided may serve as an addendum.

When I want an eclectic mix of favorites and stuff I've never heard: my favorite Internet radio is still Radio Paradise.

Maybe I should try more song-based stations. The only one I've done is "Singapore" by Tom Waits. But then I end up hearing every other Rain Dogs song except "Singapore."

I find it also helps not to use the feedback too much, the "I like it, or don't like this song" option. It seems to have the same effect as mixing too many colors of paint.

My favorite Pandora station so far has been Astrud Gilberto.

My other favorite internet radio site is LuxuriaMusic.com which bills itself as "Outré lounge and Latin jazz, groovy 60s go-go, Surf."
