You may recall that my wife and I took in some stray dogs way back in September. We named them Mama and Papa. Well, we took them to CAAWS for adoption day every Saturday since then.
We eventually stopped bringing Mama because she would totally freak out when we brought her to adoption day and she has heartworms. But Papa was better. He would just pout and cower when he was there, so we kept bringing him. We just have too many dogs. Papa would do best somewhere where he was the undispituted king of some person's heart.
Well yesterday, someone saw his picture on the CAAWS website and adopted him. To top it all off, the newspaper happened to be there and they took a picture of the new owner and Papa bonding at the shelter. His picture took up half the front page of the B section in today's Sunday paper.

The caption reads:
Wendy Winans presses her face to Papa, a mixed-breed dog up for adoption from the Capital Area Animal Welfare Society, while Pumpkin, another dog, waits in her cage.
Here's a link to the article (which might not work in a couple days).
I think they look great together. I wish them both the best of luck.
You can't tell from this picture, but I totally butchered his hair the other day when I was giving everybody their summer cuts. Sorry about that! It'll grow back.
In the meantime, I think Mama might be staying with us for a while. She's totally mellow and cute. Her only problem is that she pretends not to know how to jump in the bed, even though we have seen her do it when she's playing with her toys.
