I placed 1st in my division this weekend at the New Orleans Scrabble Tournament. I won $165. I've figured out that that comes out to almost 3 cents an hour for the amount of time I've put into it.
I spent the night in New Orleans and got to meet many interesting people from all over the world who all share my passion for Scrabble.
Some fun words I played were: CRAZIEST for 76 points, PREFIX for 53 points, LORIMERS (plural for a maker of implements for harnesses and saddles) for 82 and SCARLET for 81.
If you think that's something, somebody in my division played GHERKINS (type of pickle) through two triple word scores, with the K landing on a double letter: 203 points.
If you would like more details, I'll post a few more stories on my Scrabble blog, The Elusive QUETZAL.
Feel free to leave congratulatory comments.
