A Flurry of Activity
I opened up the blinds to my sunroom to see what I could see. Almost immediately I saw a Ruby-Throated Hummingbird all up in the pineapple sage. My wife and I stuck around in the sunroom for about an hour, spotting birds.
Of course there were house sparrows a-plenty. I saw a few mockingbirds. Across the street we saw a red-headed woodpecker. I'm pretty sure it's living in the tree there. Then I noticed another one. Maybe male and female? I'm not sure, but there are two of them.
In the same tree I saw a blue jay. Are the woodpeckers keeping an eye on the blue jay?
Another ruby-throated showed up. This one was female. Cool. That means more than one of them know where we are. Please tell your friends. We planted our whole crazy garden for you. Along with the pineapple sage, they like the cigar plant, the butterfly bush, the lantana, the salvia, and the coral honeysuckle when it has blooms (which it doesn't have today for some reason).
High up above I saw a bird of prey. But I can't get a long enough look to figure out what it is.
Last weekend I saw a northern cardinal.
