Proving that you can never have too many best of lists (or maybe proving that I can never have too many best of lists), retroCRUSH has the 50 Coolest Song Parts. Instead of listing the best songs, it is only concerned with just a part of a song. In my case, it would be the part of the song where I stop listening to whoever's talking to me, and I reach for the dial and turn it up. The website comes complete with brief MP3 snippets.
I think they goofed on #3, which has the beginning guitar riff of Heart's Barracuda as the coolest song part by Heart. My vote goes for the part in Magic Man during the long instrumental break, right after the guitar riffs where the congas kick in with the women's angelic "aaaaaah". A few moments later the cheesy 70s keyboard comes in.
But what can you expect from a list that has Phil Collins as #1 for anything? My personal vision of hell is a place where all the radio stations only play Phil Collins.
Announcer:Thanks for tuning into WFIL, all Phil Collins, all the time. Now let's Phil 'er up with "In the Air Tonight"...
