Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade

My trusty digital camera and I made the rounds for Spanish Town Mardi Gras. Just click on the pictures for a better view.

I got off work at the library at 1pm and just caught the first floats rounding the bend at Fourth Street and North Boulevard. It was the best weather for the event in years.

Here's a view looking down North Boulevard toward Third Street.

Spanish Town Mardi Gras is known for its political in-correctness and innuendo, but if you're here to see breasts: this is about all you're gonna get.

By this time I made it up to the Main Street Market on Fifth and Main Street. That's the State Capitol in the background. Makes me feel like the whole affair is under the shadow of Huey Long.

After I crossed North Street, a fight broke out right next to me. I tried to snap off a couple photos but apparently I'm not an action photographer because I got about 4 photos of the ground. This is the only one that came out.

The fight lasted about 5 seconds before a swarm of police broke it up. No arrests were made.

When I made it to Spanish Town Road the last float was going by. A reveler up in a tree played Taps on his trombone as the street sweepers rolled through.

A dog quietly watched the parade-goers clear out of the area. Perhaps he's guarding the bag of Zapp's Potato Chips behind him.
