SEABIRD
When it rains, it pours. I played this lovely bird word today on the ISC. That marks two notches on my ISC bird watching within two weeks (see BITTERNS), after a four month dry spell.
The rack is bingo gold: ?ADEIRS.
And boom, here it is. SEAbIRD at N6 for 67.
I totally got this because I made up some alphagram notecards with all the words that are birds. SEABIRD was the first thing that popped in my mind, along with DARBIES (ABIDERS, BRAISED, and SIDEBAR are also anagrams). However, the highest scoring plays use the K-hook at L9. Can you find any? (Answers follow)
AIRSHED or ASPIRED at L9 score 74.
Had I known LOTA I would have seen SEABIRD at N4 for 73 points.
ASTRIDE, ADMIRES, ABIDERS, and ADVISER are good at L9 for 72 points.
I got other blank later and was able to bingo with ANISEED.
