CGP

I finally went ahead and joined the CGP mailing list. CGP stands for Crossword-Games-Pro, which means it is for Scrabble players who play in tournaments. The only requirement is that one belongs to the NSA. It has a daily digest option, which keeps my inbox looking nice.

I have a feeling I'll be getting some material from there. Lately, a discussion has centered around conspiracy theories and the bots on the ISC. Apparently, some people think that the bots cheat by giving themselves good draws. I find the notion ridiculous. The bots pull these bingos out of thin air because they have perfect anagramming ability and perfect dictionary knowledge. I guess some people have such an inflated sense of their own abilities, that every time they get beat they cry foul. The same people probably accuse everybody of using anagrammers too.

Now when bot plays a third blank against me, then I might believe it.

I think a paranoid mind can run wild with scrabble. There's just so many ways to cheat if you're not battling each other face to face, and the tendency (epecially when being beaten) is to jump to this conclusion. I have to agree , the BOTS have perfect word knowledge - they will find more words - people will subconciously intepret more words with better letters. In short, the bots don't need to cheat.

Or maybe they are cheating, how would you know?
