Trivial Pursuit

So today I was playing Trivial Pursuit with my wife and brother-in-law. I was winning. They kept claiming that I was getting all of the easy questions. I had all my pie pieces when I landed on the center square and they had to pick which category I needed to answer in order to win the game. They chose sports and leisure, because occasionally a hockey question comes up and I don't know a darned thing about hockey. This was the question:

What two letter word which is street slang for "hello, there" scores 5 points in Scrabble?

They both started yelling and laughing because it was a Scrabble question. I paused and I answered...

I said "HI?"

No, I got it wrong! The answer was YO. They both laughed at me.

How embarrassing! HI scores 5 points too! Oh geez.

Luckily, I still won the game, like 20 minutes later. But I still have a feeling that it's going to keep me up all night. I'm inconsolable.

Oh the pain! But in all fairness, that's actually a pretty tough question as AY, YO, and HI could all be interpreted as correct answers. Too vague is what it is.

Also a quick question: What do you do if you have a bonus word but no where to place it?(assuming no eights or nines etc.) - Do you just play off the tiles as you would if they were not bingo-forming, including playing an S if you have it for say 20 pts - or would you play or change one letter and with a good chance of a new word and hope you can play that? Or would you do something different?
