Pre-Tournament Cramming

Today is the first day of the Scrabble tournament in Harahan. I've been trying to do some last minute cramming.

It's scary when I find three letter words that I swear I've never seen until just now: OOT and NOO. I just noticed them in the three letter word list this morning, and then I happened to pick up my Scrabble newsletter and there is a game board pictured that has both words on it. And even more embarrassing is that they are look like they are useful because they can dump your Os. I've been relying on common words like COO and BOO and WOO, etc.

I read somewhere that one shouldn't study right before a tournament. But I think that as long as the study isn't too intensive, then it can't hurt. I just like to pick up a few useful, short words. During my last tournament I had glanced at RAZEE just a few minutes before the games began. Lo and behold, I played it just a few games later.

If I'm not too tired, I'll have an update tonight. I'm planning to drive back and forth both days.
